I just wanted a nice story based game where your choices impacted your future, and this game delivers. You can die if you make the "incorrect" choice too many times, but the game does not make you start back from the beginning, but instead a checkpoint. I thought that was really nice. Without giving too much away, you can take different routes. Personally, I only too one route. I can't bare to take the other one! Not only is the design and the art of the game nice, there are optional little lessons explaining certain elements of the games you may choose to read up on. I came out of this game knowing a bit more about the Iranian Revolution from this, and it was really interesting. This game is unorthodox. Not many people I know like history, but even if you do not, I feel as though you feel like you are in the middle of the revolution and feel the feelings others must have felt at that time.. Telltale-style game about Black Friday[en.wikipedia.org]. It consist of 19 short chapters and it won't take long to play thru them all, but it's always interesting and you keep learning new stuff (at least I did, who had very little knowledge about the Iranian Revolution). While there are fictional stuff in there (must be since you had choices to do things differently), it was like playing a documentary rather than watching one, which I think was rather cool and I wouldn't mind playing more games like this that are about real events.Valiant Hearts: The Great War (World War I) and Never Alone (Alaska Native culture) are two other games I learned some stuff from, which I also recommend.. This game is a good game if you want to experience firsthand a little bit of whatIran has gone through in its history, and then being able to compare it to today. It will definitely open up many people's eyes to what Iranians have had to face, which was probably the point of this game. So in this case, I feel like the devs havedone a great job in accomplishing this task.Cons: However, the story does end short and there have not been any sequels to this. There is bare minimum gameplay and it's pretty much using Telltale style actions.Overall: With it being 2 hours to finish, I still had an enjoyable experience. This gameliterally put me 2 hours in Iran. Even though it ends almost abruptly, it leaves you witha feeling of wanting to learn more about what really happened to Iran in 1979 whichmay cause you to research about it.Rating: 6/10See you on the other side,Godspeed!. Very short(I finished it in 2 hours) but well worth the purchase as it was very well done, although the ending was rather abrupt and unexpected and didn't tie up any loose ends. I learnt quite a lot about the circumstances surrounding the Iranian revolution and the background behind the present day situation. It maintained a fairly objective stance about the revolution, even though it was told from the point of view of the revolutionaries. I also learnt quite a bit about Iranian culture and traditions. Very similar to Telltale games in structure and style, and also less buggy. I hope I see some more similar historical games from these devs as it was very enjoyable.. This game has a great story, and if you are interested you can learn alot about the revolution.the game is pretty short, it took me about 2 hours to beat the game, although i'm pretty sure there are multiple endings and it has some replay value. If you are interested of the revolution then i recommend you buy this, but not at the full price!. Sometimes a game can be both entertaining and educational. 1979 Revolution delivers on both fronts. It thrusts you during one of the most turbulent times in Iran and while your actions have very little impact you are an active observer of a piece of history in the making. In the game you play a young photographer on the side of the rebellion. As event unfold you can shape your character's views but not anyone elses. Your job is almost exclusively to take pictures, with the occasional parts where you're run from danger or playing doctor. Graphics wise the game is beautiful, with vibrant locations, and many characters to interact with. Since this is a very specific point in history and a short game you don't really get the character growth you tend to with adventure games of this kind, but it goes back to the game being educational. This is where I think the experience falls short. Reza, the main character is from an affluent family. He's spent time overseas and has friends and family on both sides of the conflict. But you only get to experience his family life in 2 chapters and you feel quite detached from everything despite your cousin, brother and close friend's involvement. What would have made for a richer experience is being able to choose a particular character's point of view. I mean this game was based on real events. You could have witnessed the point of view from multiple sides rather than just the side of the freedom fighters. Ultimately this game doesn't evoke any deep emotional conflict the way it was for actual participants, whose testimonies supposedly helped craft this story. Call it a missed opportunity if you will. The story ends on pretty much a cliff hanger any way you put it. The one time where you get to actually play detective and figure something out you're given a decision where all choices lead to an undesirable outcome.i still recommend this game despite it's flaws because it does give you a different perspective. You're in the middle of a conflict as a bystander without a gun just watching as events unfold. What makes it unique is also what makes it slightly frustrating. And while it only highlights one particular POV in time I think that it is pretty educational from a historical context. For the time and price it's not bad. Nothing spectacular but good enough for the price.
